Centro Turístico James

6.5 / 10Open4.7

The Centro Turístico James sits at the gates of Las Pozas and answers the question every Xilitla visitor has after the guided walk: now what? It is the action half of the Edward James story — zipline runs over the canopy, a temazcal sweat lodge, natural pools to cool off in, a restaurant and the James craft brewery pouring beers named after the garden's surrealism. Where the sculpture garden is silence and photography, this is the place to burn the afternoon with kids or a group, all within walking distance of the parking area below the entrance.

Getting there without a car

It is right at the Las Pozas entrance in the La Conchita neighborhood, a 15–20 minute walk or short taxi from Xilitla plaza. If you drove, use the parking area by the brewery (around $70 MXN) rather than informal lots on the road up.

What to bring

Clothes that survive a zipline and a swim — plus dry change. Bug repellent earns its space in Xilitla's heat, and cash covers the activities individually. If you plan temazcal, reserve ahead; sessions run at set times.

Rainy season & safety

Afternoon downpours pause ziplines but not the brewery or restaurant — this is the natural rain-plan half of a Xilitla day built around Las Pozas. Cloud forest mornings are fresh; midday heat is the thing to escape, and the pools do that.

Good to know

  • Do Las Pozas in the morning (book the ticket slot online), then make this your afternoon — the pairing is the local playbook.
  • The brewery is the rare craft-beer stop in the region; the terrace view justifies the price.
  • Zipline plus pools covers a mixed group: thrill-seekers up top, swimmers below, regroup at the restaurant.
