Museo Leonora Carrington
Xilitla's second surrealist museum hides in plain sight: a former jail on Corregidora street, converted into a compact, sharply curated museum of Leonora Carrington — the sculptor-painter who lived in town while Edward James built Las Pozas. The collection is small but dense: sculptures, prints and the story of her life and exile told in one tight circuit (25 minutes fast, an hour if you look properly). After the garden's concrete fantasies, this is the key that explains them — two surrealists, one hillside, and a friendship that shaped the region's most improbable art.

Getting there without a car
Downtown Xilitla, steps from the plaza — walk from anywhere in town. Open daily-ish (closed Mondays), around $50 MXN. The natural sequence: museum first, then Las Pozas in the afternoon, with the story fresh.
