El Conejo is Valles' nearest escape hatch: a riverside paraje with camping on the Valles–Naranjo road at km 18.5, twenty-some minutes from the city and a world away from it. This is where vallepeople go for the afternoon grill, the safe shallow swim and the night under trees — vest mandatory, rules simple, and none of the itinerary pressure of the famous falls. For travelers, its value is practical: a soft first night's camp or a swim day that requires no mountain driving, with El Naranjo's turquoise parks thirty minutes further on.

Getting there without a car
On the Carretera Valles–Naranjo at km 18.5 — any car reaches it on pavement, and local buses toward El Naranjo drop you at the km marker. Open roughly 10 am to 9 pm daily.

Camping gear (or rent in Valles), grill supplies, the mandatory vests — enforced here — water shoes, and cash. Phone signal holds, unlike the deeper Huasteca: it is the gentle intro version.
Rainy season & safety
Riverside and rain-sensitive: after storms the water rises and swimming suspends, but the palapas and camping ride out light weather fine. Dry season is the easy window.
